National Sports Development Manager

Vision Sports Ireland are delighted to announce Pádraig Healy as their new National Sports Development Manager. Pádraig comes with several years experience from the disability sport sector having worked as the Sports Inclusion Disability Officer with Cork Sports Partnership for four years and in recent years with Kildare Sports Partnership.

Pádraig says “I am really excited about joining Vision Sports Ireland and look forward to working with key stakeholders to grow sport and physical activity opportunities for people who are blind and visually impaired across the country. According to the last census there are 54,810 people with a vision impairment in Ireland. Working with my colleagues in NCBI, Sport Ireland, National Governing Bodies of Sport and Local Sports Partnerships we want to establish an infrastructure that builds capacity in the community and facilitates people to meet the National Physical Activity Guidelines of 60 minutes of moderate physical activity per day for children and 30 minutes of moderate physical activity five days a week for adults. We should all have the opportunity to try a range of sports and activities throughout our lifespan, this should be no different for a person with a vision impairment and creating these opportunities across the country will be core to our work”.

In welcoming the critical post, Aaron Mullaniff, Head of National Services at the NCBI highlighted that “since Visions Sports Ireland merged with NCBI in early 2020, we have been working hard to ensure the growth of Vision Sports and Pádraig joining the organisation as National Sports Development manager is the first step in what we hope will be a significant growth period for Vision Sports Ireland. Padraig’s experience and network will allow him collaborate with colleagues within NCBI and also external services. We are excited about the bright future of Vision Sports Ireland and supporting its valued members.”   For Further details on Vision Sports Ireland log on to www.visionsports.ie
