ZERO LIMITS Track Day Returns for 2022

Press Release – 07/06/2022

The Vision Sports Ireland ZERO LIMITS Track Day returns to the Mondello Park circuit on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th July 2022, bigger than ever before.

Vision Sports Ireland, in partnership with Motorsport Ireland, are thrilled to announce the return of the Zero Limits Track Day, supported by Sport Ireland. The inaugural 2021 event proved to be a huge success in which 35 blind and vision impaired participants had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of dual controlled Mini Coopers and became rally co-drivers alongside some of Ireland’s finest rally drivers. Now returning for its second year in 2022, the event will be spread over two days enabling double the number of participants taking to the circuit.

Padraig Healy, National Sports Development Manager of Vision Sport Ireland commented “We were blown away with the response from participants following the inaugural Zero Limits event in 2021. For someone who has never driven a car or not driven since their vision changed, it is a unique experience that we are truly delighted to be able to offer to our members. We hope to show that nothing is impossible in life; the true mantra of Vision Sports. With support from Sport Ireland, in 2022 we will run the event across two days to offer this thrilling experience to a double the participants. We are all very excited to welcome back participants and their family and friends, alongside event partners Motorsport Ireland and our volunteer rally drivers who shared their incredible sport in 2021 by providing co-driver hot laps around the Mondello Park Circuit, on July 11 and 12.”

Sport Ireland CEO, Dr. Una May commented “Sport Ireland are proud to support the unique Zero Limits event where it will provide an opportunity for people who are blind, and vision impaired to experience Motorsport activities in the home of Irish motor racing. In line with Sport Ireland’s Policy on Participation in Sport by People with Disabilities, we are committed to the equal treatment of people with disabilities when it comes to their participation in sport and physical activity. Vision Sports Irelands collaboration with Motorsport Ireland on this event demonstrates the effective partnerships that exist throughout the Irish sports sector and this engagement is something Sport Ireland actively encourages. We wish Vision Sports Ireland and Motorsport Ireland the very best of success with this event”.

The event is open to participants who are blind or vision impaired, and must be aged 13 years or older.
