The Tandem Pilot Training Course equips cyclists with the skills and confidence to pilot a person who is blind or vision impaired on a tandem bike. Delivered in two mandatory sessions (a 2-hour online theory workshop and a 3-hour in-person practical workshop), it covers effective pilot–stoker communication, tandem handling skills and key safety considerations. Courses will be rolled out nationally adding to a National Register of Tandem Pilot Volunteers, increasing tandem cycling opportunities for people who are blind or vision impaired across Ireland.
