Celebrating 40 Years Reeling in The Years

On Saturday May 2nd 1981 athletes with a visual impairment/blindness travelled from across Ireland and the UK to participate in the Dublin Games. Events were held in Irish Life Swimming Pool, Morton Stadium and varies other locations across the city.

The event was organised and funded by the National League of the Blind of Ireland. The event later became known as the May Games. In more recent years the now named MayFest has become a flagship event for Vision Sports Ireland with a core focus on participation and increasing physical activity opportunities for people who are blind and vision impaired across the country.
