Start Well + Physical Literacy for Us

“Start Well + Physical Literacy for Us” is a collaborative research project between DCU’s School of Health & Human Performance and Vision Sports Ireland. Adopting a co-design approach, where resources will be designed with and by those who will use them, this research aims to create resources that will support the development of physical literacy amongst children who have a vision impairment. Physical literacy is the knowledge, physical competence, confidence and motivation that enable a person to engage in lifelong physical activity. The goal of Start Well+ is to support children to develop their physical literacy so that they can enjoy doing physical activity throughout their lives, ensuring that all children benefit from the mental and physical health benefits of leading a physically active life.

The Start Well + project is led by principle researcher, Dr Úna Britton of DCU’s School of Health and Human Performance. This project is funded by Research Ireland.
